Eclipse!

Today was the Annular Solar Eclipse.

We had an eclipse party at my uncle's house up in Placitas, NM.

Had a spectacular view up there in the moutains!

My brother took this last photo. That's Cabezon peak sitting on the horizon.

Final Animation for Spring

Final animation assignment for Character Movement.

A two character interaction which kinda turned into four characters afterward. The designs and style was to be based off a current animation style from tv, film, web, games, etc....

I chose to do mine based off Adventure Time, because I frickin love that show. It's done in the show's style and also in the context that it makes no sense at all.

The girl character is supposed to be a caricature of me. And that's my cat, Wallace

Rainbow!

18x24 Rainbow Dash watercolor for my illustration class. This was the final. The assignment was to pick an illustration genre from the 20th century and create your own piece in that style. I chose children's book illustration, though with a current subject matter. And I thought, why not ponies?

I'm pretty happy with the end result, even though there's a few things that could be better. But I'm not touching, cuz I'll probably end up totally destroying it.

A Bouncing Critter of Some Sort

He is here to delight and entertain you.

Lissa's Dragon

A digital dragon painting I made for a friend at work. Drawn and rendered completely in photoshop, then printed at 11x17, framed, and presented!

He's sitting in a lava field. The setting was inspired by the lava fields out near Grants, NM. :)

Darkonda, meet Starscream...

"I am no stranger to ambition..." - says Transformers Prime Starscream, before gratuitously sticking a knife in your back...

It's funny how I never liked Darkonda as a kid. I always liked the villains, and he was such a perfect villain. It's probably because he was just a real nasty one.

And he was always beating up on Ecliptor.

So the big question is...who double-crosses who first?

Ecliptor and Astronema

I've been on a complete Power Rangers binge lately. It was one of my favorite series from childhood, and my favorite of all to date (even now) is Power Rangers in Space. I especially liked the relationship between the main villains in the show, Astronema and Ecliptor.

So here's my little tribute to those two - Ecliptor and a (mini)Astronema/Karone.

And I've yet to find my Ecliptor action figure! :( He's hiding in a box somewhere around here...

Grandma Pat

My Grandmother

My grandmother passed away this weekend, early Saturday morning.

Going to miss you a lot, Grandma!

Orange Dragon

The first art piece of the new year. And it's a dragon painting! Fitting I upload it now, seeing that today is the start of the Year of the Dragon.

A simple dragon, in Charizard colors, as it was later pointed out to me... :P

Bean Bag Torture!

Kind of low quality, but you get the idea.

Bean Bag Walk Test

I made him move! It needs a little refinement, like a few more inbetweens added in some places.

Bean Bag Walk Studies

My final animation is a bean bag animation. I needed to get him to walk so I did some quick studies. Thought it would be fairly simple...wrong! I couldn't make his "legs" move right. And his top half was kind of going all over the place. I didn't want to see him at a side view either. I was silently wishing my paper was longer horizontally so I could keep drawing left to right...

I finally figured out something that might work with the last two bottom rows of drawings. I came up with a basic shape that would work for his "head" that could be repeated for every drawing, kind of like a rounded square. I also decided to have his feet get squished by his weight as he is pushing off the ground as he takes a stride.

Florist Hands

MY HANDS!!! THEY'VE BEEN SEVERED! D8

Those are my hands, at work.

Graphite and red colored pencil on 18x24 drawing paper. :)

Portrait

Portrait of one of our models. Done in charcoal on 18x24 gray toned paper, then trimmed down slightly. This was done within two 2 hour class periods from a live model. It was one of the most interesting and fun drawings I've done.
